Astoria Park Update

I got a call from Bobby Horvath yesterday (4-9-10) telling me that there was an obstruction in the Astoria Park nest that was causing Atlas and his new mate some problems. Somehow a plastic wrapping paper of some sort is stuck on the side of the nest.

Apparently this plastic sheet flapping in the breeze over the nest was obstructing Atlas from continuing his hard work preparing the nest for his new mate. Whatever problems he may have had the day before yesterday were now resolved, as the plastic sheet seems to have lodged itself on the side of the nest and no longer seems to be bothering him. In the 30 minutes I was there, he brought about a half dozen new twigs to the nest in between a mating session. We'll have to keep an eye on this plastic sheet so it doesn't become a problem for the eyasses later on.
