Flushing Meadow Park 3-20-10

I visited FMP Saturday to see if the female was sitting on eggs. She was in the nest when I arrived, but I didn't realize that until she popped out of the nest and headed towards the tennis stadium. The nest is apparently deep enough that when she is sitting in it, you can't see any part of her. She went back and forth to the nest several times while I was there, sitting down and I guess becoming accustomed to her new nest. No new twigs were brought to the nest, so I'm guessing its good to go for now. I also saw the groundhog again by the LIRR tracks eating grass and probably thankful that spring has arrived. Several Red-Eared Sliders and Painted turtles were spotted in the lake and fountain.
